Yin Yoga with Raven

"Stillness. Surrender. Surfing the edge of resistance"
Yin Yoga is a practice of slowing down.
Of becoming still enough to listen.
Of meeting the body exactly where it is — without forcing, fixing, or performing.
In Raven’s 90-minute Yin classes, you are invited into a spacious practice of long-held, mostly seated and lying-down postures. There is time to feel, breathe, soften and simply be.
At the heart of the practice are three S’s:
Stillness
Yin asks us to become still. Or, to notice the stillness already presence, hidden beneath layers of doing, acting and moving.
Postures are held for several minutes, giving the body time to settle and the mind time to become quieter.
In stillness, we begin to notice what is actually here. Sensations, impressions, expressions, thoughts, breath, feelings, resistance and ease.
There is absolutely nothing to accomplish.
We become still so we can listen.
Surrender
Yin is not about pushing yourself deeper.
It is about letting go of the constant impulse to do more.
We allow gravity, breath and time to support the practice. We respect the body's boundaries rather than overriding them.
Surrender is not giving up.
It is discovering what happens when we stop fighting the moment.
Come practice, that.
Surfing the edge.
Every Yin posture has an edge, a place where you can feel something without forcing it.
A sort of a backend, a natural stop. That edge, will move and expand over time.
This is where the practice becomes an exploration.
We find the place between too much and too little. We stay curious. We breathe. We notice when the edge changes.
And rather than pushing through resistance, we learn to surf it.
This is one of Yin’s great teachings: we don't have to run from discomfort, and we don't have to conquer it either.
We practise to be present with it.
From Yoga into meditation
Raven’s approach to Yin is deeply influenced by Zen Buddhism, Traditional Chinese Medicine, meditation, and the philosophy of non-duality.
Her education has been shaped by teachers and traditions she sought out directly. including her study of Zen Buddhism at the source. Training with Jamie Clarke of The Yoga People in London, and with internationally recognised Yin teacher Paul Grilley, whose work has had a profound influence on modern Yin Yoga.
These influences come together in a practice that is
both grounded and contemplative.
The body is the starting point.
Stillness is the doorway.
Awareness is the practice.
90 minutes to step out of the rush
For 90 minutes, there is nowhere else you need to be.
Most of the practice takes place close to the ground, with postures held for approximately 2–7 minutes. Props may be used to support the body and make the practice accessible and comfortable.
You don't need to be flexible, at all.
You don't need previous Yoga experience.
And you don't need to arrive calm.
You simply arrive.
From there, we slow down.
We listen.
We explore.
We let go of what we can.
And we stay curious about what remains.
A practice for everybody
Yin is accessible to different ages, bodies and levels of experience.
There is no ideal shape to achieve and no competition with anyone else in the room.
Your practice is your own.
Sometimes the deepest practice is not going further.
Sometimes it is knowing when to stop.
Sometimes it is simply staying still long enough to feel one breath completely.
Stillness.
Surrender.
Surfing the Edge.
Come and experience Yin as a practice of body, mind and presence.
90 minutes.
No performance.
Nothing to prove.
Just more space, to be.
The invitation is simple:
Come as you are.
Let go, notice what´s up, surrender to what is and trust that whatever needs to be released, will be released.
You have got to feel it, to heal it.
And Raven will hold that space with you.

Kirstine Ravn
Presence. Stillness. Transformation.
Known simply as Raven, Kirstine Ravn is a meditation teacher, Yin Yoga teacher, energetic healer, retreat facilitator, and teacher trainer devoted to creating spaces where people can remember who they truly are.
Her work is rooted in the ancient wisdom traditions of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Zen Buddhism, and Advaita Vedanta, gently woven together with contemporary understandings of the nervous system, embodiment, and conscious awareness.
Having trained, served (Seva), and taught at Advaita Ashrama in India, Raven's teaching is deeply influenced by the Vedic philosophy of non-duality—the recognition that beneath the constant movement of the mind exists a silent awareness that has always been whole.
Everything she offers arises from this understanding.
Not as something to achieve.
But as something to remember.
