Sketching with Will Weston

Gruppe tegner i Kgl. Afstøbningssamling

We're thrilled to offer an exclusive three-day drawing workshop with renowned instructor Will Weston at Copenhagen's Royal Cast Collection — a historic sculpture museum that is normally closed to the public and accessible only to groups by special appointment. This rare opportunity grants you private access to one of Europe's finest collections of classical casts, transforming this extraordinary space into your personal studio for intensive artistic exploration.

The workshop runs 6.5 hours daily across three days. Day one covers figure construction and measuring techniques, teaching you to capture the human form's underlying architecture with accuracy. Day two explores facial features, fabric rendering, and animal drawing to broaden your anatomical understanding. Day three focuses on lighting strategies and finishing techniques, learning to use light and shadow to create volume and atmosphere. Throughout, Will addresses compositional principles directly applicable to all observational drawing.

Will Weston brings decades of experience as both working artist and master teacher. Known for his dynamic teaching style and ability to clarify complex concepts, he's taught at premier art institutions worldwide. His approach combines classical training with contemporary insights, making sophisticated principles accessible to all levels. Students praise his individualized feedback and enthusiasm, which create an inspiring and supportive learning environment.

This exceptional opportunity to learn from Will Weston while drawing world-class sculptures in an intimate, restricted-access setting—unavailable to regular museum visitors — provides an unparalleled environment for artistic growth. Secure your place in this exclusive workshop and experience the Royal Cast Collection as few ever will.

Recommended Supply List:
One 11" × 17" (or similar size) white paper sketch pad
Two 10% cool gray wedge markers (not recommended are markers with brush tips)
Four black Faber-Castell Polychromos or Prismacolor Premier pencils
One Portable electric or manual pencil sharpener with a catch basin for shavings.
One Drawing board slightly larger than your sketch pad. I recommend a lightweight
masonite painting board (often gessoed on one side) available at art stores. These
boards are inexpensive, easy to carry and keep paper flat.
