Weeks 1–2: Foundations of Hand Sketching ● Pencil control, line quality, shapes, and basic shading ● Observational drawing of simple objects ● Quick sketch exercises and sketchbook practice ● Introduction to Light Direction: Understanding a single light source and how it affects simple forms Weeks 3–4: Advanced Pencil Techniques ● Texture rendering, hatching, cross-hatching, and tonal value ● Sketching furniture and interior elements ● Composition, proportion, and accuracy exercises ● Soft Shadows & Cast Shadows: creating realistic shadows for objects in interiors Weeks 5–6: Introduction to Watercolor ● Color theory, color mixing, and basic brush techniques ● Washes, layering, and combining watercolor with pencil sketches ● Applying watercolor to simple interior objects (lamps, furniture, décor, etc.) ● Watercolor Shadows: color temperature of shadows, soft vs. hard edges, and light gradients Weeks 7–8: Watercolor for Design & Visualization ● Rendering materials in interiors (wood, metal, stone, fabric, glass) ● Combining pencil and watercolor for expressive, polished sketches ● One-point, two-point, and three-point perspectives for objects and small scenes ● Lighting in Interiors: light direction in a room, shadows from furniture, depth through value Weeks 9–13: Perspective Drawing Essentials ● One-point, two-point, and three-point perspectives in interior design ● Designing floor tiles and architectural elements (columns, windows, beams, etc.) ● Understanding scale, proportion, and spatial relationships ● Sketching furniture and full interior layouts in perspective ● Sketching architectural exteriors and landscapes ● Cast Shadows in Perspective: how shadows fall across floors, walls, and objects ● Strong focus on manual drawing skills and watercolor application Materials You Need to Bring: ● Watercolor paints (tube or pan set), preferably Winsor and Newton, Van Gogh ● Brushes: round and flat of various sizes 2,6,8,12, preferably squirrel hair brush, pencils HB, B, B2, and eraser for sketches ● Hobby knife ● Watercolor paper (100 % cotton cold press recommended) ● Palette, water container, masking tape, paper towel, or tissue
